Welcome to the Save India Volunteer’s "Run for a Dream" Program! FAQ

We are excited to kick off the Save India Volunteer Marathon Program: "Run for a Dream" where you can reach your goal of running a marathon or half-marathon while helping others for a great cause. It's still not too late to join the program. Write to

The program includes professional and customized coaching, other team members to train and socialize with, fundraising support, and other guidance throughout the entire process. In return, you achieve a goal that many think is unachievable, you meet friends along the way, AND most of all you help Save India Volunteer’s mission to make a difference in the lives of the poor. Why participate in the Run for a Dream program?
Running a marathon is a daunting task for anyone. It requires stamina, endurance, and dedication. At Save India Volunteer, we believe that achieving the goal of running a marathon is as important as dedicating time and energy to helping others. That is why we have created a marathon-training program: so we can help you achieve your goals while you help others achieve theirs!

As part of the Run for a Dream training program, you will:

Receive customized and professional training from a certified marathon coach
- You will receive a personalized run schedule with your daily mileage goals
- Whether you run today or not, fast or slow….you will be put in a runner group with a similar pace and will receive the training you need to complete your goal
- You will also run w/ marathon coaches once a week and receive personalize guidance and answers to your questions

Meet other fun and energetic people
- There will be group runs (long runs) on Saturday mornings in Cubbon Park where you can run with others that are also training
- Plenty of social events so you can meet other runners and share experiences
- We will assign you a running mentor (someone who has run a marathon before and can help motivate you along the way!)

Learn more about yourself
- Running a marathon or half-marathon is a surefire way to test your limits - there is no doubt that you can complete the goal you set for yourself
- In this process you will realize how far your body and mind can take you
- You will also realize how much of a difference you can truly make....one step at a time!!

Secure Bragging Rights
- You can tell your friends that you have run a marathon and revel in the surprised looks on their face!!
- There is no expiration to these bragging rights – valid for life!!

Suggested 2007 - 2008 Marathons / Half Marathons
A Half Marathon usually takes 12-14 weeks of training ; A Full Marathon usually takes 16-20 weeks of training.
